It’s been about a month since I updated my site so as I got a few e-mails asking, I thought I’d update on what I’m working on.
Err, not much… 🙂
Actually I’ve been trying to enjoy the spring sunshine and chill out with my cat rather than spend all my time in front of this damn monitor giving my sell cataracts.
I have got a few small projects going on but as usual my heads filled with about a hundred ideas and I’m jumping back and forth between them and not making much progress on them. :-/
Anyhew, I’ve been helping GingerLord out with a HL2DM mod he’s been making for shits-and-giggles. Fudging the SDK source has proved just how bad my C++ is but we’ve got some stuff working. You can check out progress on the mod on his Mod Blog.
I’m still working on the documentation for VTFLib and have switched over to using Doxygen to make it easier to update and navigate. Hopefully the documentation for the VTF handling part of the library will be done early next week.
I’m still putzing around doing bits and pieces modelling wise. I’ve been a bit distracted but my U-boat model for Source is slowly getting skinned. I’ve been playing with it as a static and dynamic prop and it actually floats! I’ve also used Source’s rope system to rig the cables on the model which means they sway in the wind or if the model moves.
I’m also working on some vehicle and prop models for Source, mostly WWII stuff which I’m hoping to release for mappers in time for DoD:S. Its mostly props for maps and maybe a few vehicles although they take the longest to do. I’ve seen one of the new vehicle map models in the DoD:S beta and its got poly count of around 11,000 so far and I don’t know what it will be with LOD levels. Either way I’m trying to keep the poly count for my model around the 8500-9000 range for the more detailed stuff and rely on normal maps to fill in the blanks.
I’ve also been doing some models for a secret project with Waldo, but I’m not allowed to talk about that. 😉 And no, its nothing to do with DoD 😛
