I’ve spent the last couple of weeks working on a pretty intense freelance project for Digital Mill, working along side Paul Steed of all people.

I can’t give out any specific details as the project isn’t “public” yet, but it was the first time I’ve got to work on an original character model from concept to completion and finally gave me a chance to put into practice all the techniques involved. Eyeball rigging is fun as well as setting up all the face shapekeys – it’s really satisfying seeing a characters face come to life in Faceposer.

One interesting fact – we did the whole thing in 3DS Max. Apart from HLMV and the compiler we didn’t use *any* of the Valve recommended tools. Score one for the Rebels :oD
