Long time coming

So Day of Defeat:Source is upon us – September 26th is the planned release date. Guess I better start model making again…

Feel free to head over to the Day of Defeat forums and add to the pre-emptive nay-saying – I need to get my ban quota up.

Are you going to impliment the moving mouths to the Source models? (if source doesnt come w/ it first).

I might do EZ, although its a lot more complex a process than just assigning a few vertices to a bone.

I need to make several phonemes to represent movements in the face and combine them into facial controllers. I then need to bring the model and sound files into face poser and script the movment to the voice commands. On top of that I then need to alter the scripts so that it triggers the right face anim for the right sound.

I believe thts how its done – certainly the HL2DM code works this way and characters vocalise pain sounds and phrases.

That sounds like alot of work. You would think Source would impliment moving mouths to the game. I know you would make alot of guys happy if you made a HL2 model viewer. It makes it alot easier to do minor tweaks to models. Me, personaly, I’m not buying dod source. I’d have to buy a whole new computer just to play it. Which means I wont be making custom material for Source. I’m going to retire from online gaming and spend that time w/ the wife and kids.

heya jed, good to see a overhaul of the website 🙂 You motivated again for modeling now?
If so hows everything coming along? Some of those props you where making looked sweet, i’d hate to see them wasted and unused :p
