I’ve updated my Windows XP/2000 VTF Shell extensions to include new columns when using detail view on a folder. These new columns allow you to see extended info about the VTF texture such as its dimensions, type, format, etc.

I’ve bundled this new extension along with the thumbnail extension into a quick and easy installer that will take care of installing and registering them with the system.

These extensions replace the original thumbnail extension so if your using that one, please un-install it first!

Details and download on the Source SDK Tools page.

I’ve been trying some more stuff with shell extensions for Win2K/XP and have come up with one that expands my VTF Thumbnail Extension to add additional info to the folder when looking in Detail view.

What it does is provide you with extra columns, which you can individually select to be shown or hidden, that give you info about the VTF file – such as dimensions, compression format, MIP levels, flags, etc.

Heres a screenshot.

So far it compiles, installs and runs great on my system, but when I sent it to Nem to try, it would show the columns but not the info! :-/

I need to have a few more people check it, hopefully its just some goofy quirk on Nem’s system, if not I’ll go back to smacking my head on the desk and pondering why I ever bothered trying to learn C++…

Everyone’s favourite GCF hacker has finally got his website back up and has a new URL If your looking for Nem’s site for HLLib, GCFScape or any of his other stuff – you can now find it here:

Nem’s site @ The Wavelength

Right, as you can probably see I’ve pretty much finished re-jigging my site so hopefully I wont have to touch it for another 12 months. :o/

Its was mostly just a minor cosmetic change, adding a few bits and pieces, updating and fixing broken links and making things a bit clearer. Things like the blog comments link was confusing some people so I tried to make it more clear.

As for new stuff – not much, but I have added a RSS 2.0 feed if anyone wants to utilise it for pulling stuff as content for their own site. The RSS feed only includes blog entries related to releases and development I’m doing so you don’t have to worry about all the non-consequential crap and ramblings.

I’m in the process of updating some stuff on the site so I apologise if things look a bit wierd from time to time or stuff breaks. Bear with me…
