Gott Nytt År/Happy New Year/< insert greeting here>.
Its de rigeur for anyone with a blog/homepage to stick the usual new year greeting up and I’m not one to flaunt in the face of convention. So now thats said and done, hope you had a good one and on with my usual moaning crap. My #1 fan, “the pityer” will be glad…
As always, the new year means me being ankle deep in Swedish snow, not something I particularly enjoy but I must admit its a darn sight prettier than being stuck in British rain. Yes, I was sadly kidnapped by my family and forced to spend Christmas in a small village known as “Middle-of-fscking-nowhere”.
It’s one thing I do love about Sweden – Spring and Autumn are fairly short but Summer and Winter last and you get those wonderful extremes. We’re talking -40C in the Winter and +34C in the summer. Proper weather, none of this poncey drizzly British crap.
Sadly though, being practically in the Artic circle it does get a wee bit dark during Winter and thanks to my habitual oversleeping, I now estimate that I haven’t witnessed natural sunlight for some 3 or 4 days. I fear that should this continue, I may evolve and end up looking like a cavefish.
