God I hate PaypalWed, March 22nd, 2006 @ 00:54

I just picked up on this saga over at Garry’s Mod.

This stuff really pisses me off as it’s always the good guys that get screwed over and Paypal is a pain in the ass to communicate with over stuff like this. I’ve had an ongoing saga over getting my account validated. I paid the fee and they say they’ll put a numeric code on my statement to enter into my account settings. So I get my statement - nothing. I mail them a concise description of my problem and get a blanket form e-mail back basically re-explaining the process. Nothing in there about solving the issue and very obvious no-one ever bothered to read my e-mail (I assume they have a bot script that scans incoming e-mails for certain words and just replies with a form letter for those that match).

To be honest, for the very few donations I get, I shouldn’t really complain as theres never more than about $5 in my account anyway but I just know someday I’ll see something I really want on eBay and just when I need to pay someone they’ll fuck it up and close my account.

Bastards…

Finally…Thu, March 16th, 2006 @ 15:19

I’ve spent the last couple of weeks working on a pretty intense freelance project for Digital Mill, working along side Paul Steed of all people.

I can’t give out any specific details as the project isn’t “public” yet, but it was the first time I’ve got to work on an original character model from concept to completion and finally gave me a chance to put into practice all the techniques involved. Eyeball rigging is fun as well as setting up all the face shapekeys - it’s really satisfying seeing a characters face come to life in Faceposer.

One interesting fact - we did the whole thing in 3DS Max. Apart from HLMV and the compiler we didn’t use *any* of the Valve recommended tools. Score one for the Rebels :oD
