I must be fsking mad.
I’ve just spent the past week working on a low-polygon 3D model of a U-Boat I was asked to produce for a computer game. Low-poly modelling is not easy, you have to make a reasonable looking model with the smallest number of connected triangles possible and I’m working of a target of around 1000.
The actual model wasn’t too hard to make, although I confess some parts came out a little blocky due to the restrictions, but oh man the texture…
I’ve spent 2 days fussing over all the bloody rivets, rust and accumulated crud on the surface of the darn thing. When you can’t model the detail you have to compensate for it in the texture.
They just bloody well better like it.
*update*Baked beans and naked flames in the torpedo room don’t mix.

Meh! And its not even Friday 13th yet!
Mozilla spazzed out tonight for some reason and decided “Hey, lets destroy Jed’s Inbox and delete ALL his mails!” Result - I no longer have any mail anyone has sent to me in the past 12 months. More annoying is I have it on auto-backup but Mozilla nuked that too.
Hence, if you sent me a mail recently and I haven’t replied or don’t reply its probably because of this so mail me again.

I’ve finally finished updating the Steam GCF file format page with the info I’ve recieved from Ryan Gregg.
Ryan and I decided to collaborate on figuring out the GCF format rather than both going it alone and wanted to publish the specs so other developers could incoporate GCF support in the applications.
The spec, although not 100% complete, is functional (its what Ryan uses in GCFScape) and should allow you to browse and extract files.
I’ll keep the page updated as new info becomes available.
